“Silence of the Stones”

Every December, Kunst Zürich Süd invites its members to create new works around a shared theme for the annual group exhibition. This year’s theme is Still Life – and at first, I wasn’t quite sure how to approach it. Flower arrangements and classical still lifes aren’t really my thing.

But then I began to think about stillness itself – and what it means to me. Stones came to mind. They are silent, unmoving, yet carry within them the weight of time, memory, and presence. Stones have appeared intuitively in my earlier abstract works, as if they had been waiting for this moment.

In Silence of the Stones, I explore the quiet power and grounded energy of stones on large (1m x 1m) canvases. Each painting becomes an abstract still life      – a meditation on silence, strength, and the beauty of simply being. Price 2800 CHF / painting.
